Two of the four defendants who appeared in court today, Saturday (June 20) before the Heraklion investigating judge in the case involving the pirate pay-TV ring.

They were ordered to remain in pretrial detention, following a marathon hearing that lasted more than 10 hours: the retiree from Agrinio and the 40-year-old private-sector employee from Heraklion.

The other two—the 39-year-old wife of the private-sector employee and her 36-year-old brother—were released on restrictive terms and after posting large cash bonds. The bail imposed on the woman was 20,000 euros, while that for her brother was 30,000 euros. Both were subject to the restrictive conditions of being prohibited from leaving the country and required to report monthly to the police station in their respective areas.

According to reports, in their statements, the three men claimed they were merely the “lowest rung” of the operation and added that others were the masterminds behind the ring. The 39-year-old woman, for her part, claimed she had no connection to the charges against her and denied being a member of the ring.

Next Monday, the otherthree arrested individualswho, according to police authorities, were key members of the ring. They include the 63-year-old man arrested in Samos and his two sons, who were located in Athens and Corfu.
