The case was solved by Northeastern Attica Crime Investigation and Prosecution Sub-Directorate an armed robbery against an elderly man in Kifissia, with a haul of over 100,000 euros, which took place in early May.
In connection with the case, a 51-year-old man was arrested on June 16, following a police operation in the Attica region; the victim’s nephew, and charges were filed against him for participation in a criminal organization, theft and robbery as an accomplice, money laundering, as well as violations of firearms laws and the Highway Code.
According to police reports, the robbery took place at noon on May 6, 2026, when the 51-year-old, along with another perpetrator, drove to a residence in the Kifissia area and, at gunpoint, took a sum of money and jewelry from his elderly uncle, with a total value of over 100,000 euros, before fleeing.
The Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes in Northeastern Attica, as part of the preliminary investigation, conducted specialized investigative procedures and analyzed video footage, through which the 51-year-old was identified as one of the perpetrators. According to the Hellenic Police, the accused was familiar with his relative’s daily routines, as well as the presence of valuable items inside the home, and on the day of the robbery, he allegedly avoided using any communication devices so as not to leave a digital trail.
At the same time, it was determined that the vehicle used to commit the robbery had been rented by a relative of the 51-year-old, following his intervention, and was bearing license plates that had been removed from another vehicle. According to the police, four days before the robbery, tinted window films had been installed on the vehicle in order to make it more difficult to identify the perpetrators.
During the police operation, the following items, among others, were found and seized from the 51-year-old’s person and residence: a pistol with a bullet in the chamber, a magazine, 35 cartridges, 2,800 euros, a metal baton, a folding knife, numerous cell phones, a replica pistol, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance systems.
The suspect was taken to the competent prosecutor.
