A total of 83 agricultural and forest fires have broken out over the past 48 hours across the country, with firefighting forces fighting them nonstop.

Conditions were particularly difficult due to strong winds that prevailed in many areas.

According to the Fire Department, a total of 41 fires broke out on Saturday, June 20, and 42 on Sunday, June 21.

In the Palea Krovyli area of the Municipality of Maroneia – Sapon, Rodopi, where the fire broke out on Saturday, June 20, at 11:27 a.m. in a forested area. Forty-two firefighters responded with two teams of foot patrols from the 7th EMODE, 10 vehicles, and five aircraft.

In Angelokastro, Corinthia, where the fire broke out on Saturday, June 20, at 3:23 p.m. in an agricultural and forested area. Sixty firefighters, along with three ground teams from the 9th EMODE, volunteers, 14 vehicles, four aircraft, and two helicopters, while local government water tankers provided support.

In Ano Almiri, Corinthia, where a few minutes later, at 3:32 p.m., a fire broke out in an agricultural and forested area. Fifty-six firefighters, along with a foot patrol team from the 9th EMODE, volunteers, and 18 vehicles, responded to the fire, with the assistance of local government water tankers.

In Almyropotamos, Karystos, Euboea, where the fire broke out at 4:14 p.m. on Saturday. The operation involved 120 firefighters, including five teams of ground personnel from the 4th and 20th EMODE units, volunteers, 35 vehicles, nine aircraft, and seven helicopters, while local government water tankers provided support.

In the area of Skalosia, Perachora in the Municipality of Loutraki-Perachora – Agioi Theodoroi, Corinth, where the fire broke out today, Sunday, June 21, at 8:58 a.m. in an agricultural and forested area. Forty-seven firefighters, along with two foot patrol teams from the 9th EMODE, volunteers, 14 vehicles, and one helicopter, responded to the fire, with the assistance of local government water tankers.

In Ambelas, Syros, where the fire broke out today at 12:42 p.m. in a grassland area. Thirty firefighters, along with a foot patrol team, volunteers, eight vehicles, two aircraft, and two helicopters, responded to the fire, while local government water tankers provided support. As a precaution, a message was sent via 112 urging residents to evacuate the Tria Lagonia area toward Ermoupoli.

In the Kavisos Feron area of the Municipality of Alexandroupoli, where the fire broke out today at 14:23 in low vegetation. Thirty firefighters, along with a foot patrol team from the 7th EMODE, volunteers, 10 vehicles, and three aircraft, responded to the fire, while local government water tankers provided support.
