Makis Voridis analyzed the recent poll results showing a rise in support for the new party of Alexis Tsipras, attributing this momentum to the dissolution and absorption of smaller forces within the same political spectrum.
Raising a crucial question about the source of these poll numbers, he noted: “Have you noticed that in all the polls, Tsipras’s party seems to be showing a significant increase? Compared to what? All the smaller left-wing parties are disappearing”.
According to Mr. Voridis, the decline and gradual absorption of the smaller left-wing parties is a natural development, since these forces lacked deeper social foundations and relied exclusively on the ambitions of their leaders. “Why are all these parties disappearing? Because they are expressions of personal desire,” he explained characteristically.
Concluding his remarks, Makis Voridis sent a broader message about the rules governing political survival and electoral success, emphasizing that founding a party requires much more than just the will of a single leader. “For there to be room for anyone, it’s not enough to simply ‘want’ something; you have to address society’s demands,” he concluded.
