Tehran imposes a new blockade on the Strait of Hormuz following the U.S. attacks on military bases in Iran.
“Passage through the Strait of Hormuz cannot be guaranteed without taking into account Iran’s observations as a coastal state,” said Garibabadi, an aide to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeskian released photos from his meeting with the religious representative of Ayatollah Mojtabah Khamenei and the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bayer Galibaf, who has been appointed head of the negotiating team for talks with the U.S..

The latest closure of the Strait of Hormuz was preceded by a warning statement from Mohsen Rezaei, who is the military advisor to Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and former head of the Revolutionary Guards.
“America, by supporting the actions of the forces acting on its behalf in the region, has violated the first article of the memorandum of understanding, while, by continuing to create tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, it has violated the fifth article,” said Mohsen Rezaei. “The response to any violation of any article of the memorandum of understanding will be immediate and decisive,” he added.
The statements regarding the closure of the Strait of Hormuz come in the wake of the latest U.S. airstrikes against Iranian military bases. The U.S. response to Tehran was strong following the Iranian strikes on a ship in the Persian Gulf. “We will respond to Iran’s attacks to the very end,” is the message from U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance.
