The fire broke out shortly after 4:00 p.m. in a two-story single-family home in Kallithea, Attica, at the intersection of Aristidou and Agion Panton streets, specifically on the first floor.
According to the Fire Department, an 80-year-old man, with a leg injury and a 75-year-old woman, with respiratory problems, were picked up by EKAB ambulances and subsequently transported to the hospital.
In fact, the woman, who is reportedly the owner of the house, according to reports, jumped from the first floor in an attempt to escape the fire, after being urged to do so by bystanders who had gathered to help her, and who subsequently managed to catch her.
Also, a firefighter and a volunteer firefighter were withdrawn from the firefighting efforts due to the intense heat and heavy smoke.
Twenty-four firefighters, seven vehicles, and a special boom truck were mobilized to extinguish the fire. It should be noted that the Attica Investigative Unit for Arson Crimes has arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
