Six people were killed and at least ten injured in an armed attack today in Kiev by a 58-year-old man who came from Moscow to the Ukrainian capital.

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko, said that “the gunman opened fire with an automatic weapon, killing four people on the street and one more inside a supermarket in the Kholoshevsky district of Kiev“.

According to him, “a fire broke out in the Kiev apartment where the gunman had claimed to be staying”. However, no further details about the cause have yet been released. Ruslan Kravchenko posted a photo from the scene, in which a blurry figure covered in blood can be seen inside a shop, with a gun visible next to it.

Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, in a post on the Telegram platform, citing the interior minister, said five people had died and ten were being treated in Kiev hospitals.

At the same time, according to the city’s mayor, Vitaly Klitschko, one of the injured later ended up in hospital, raising the death toll.
