Tension has been sparked at the trial for the Rentis riots. The father of the deceased Giorgos Liggeridis raised at prosecutors and defendants.

According to reports, while he was at the witness stand of the Sports Violence Police and taking questions from counsel for the defendants, some of the defendants laughed. This provoked the ire of Giorgos Liggeridis’ father, who got up from his seat and shouted:

Stop laughing… You’ve all become academics in here. Stop laughing… It’s only funny. Animals are laughing. You don’t understand… Can’t you put yourself in my shoes?

Then the prosecuting counsel for the defendants said: Your case is not on trial, we are not trying you.”

Giorgos Liggeridis’ father replied: Who are you trying? You are trying me. They are trying to prove that the donkey flies. Well, no, it doesn’t fly. We’re trying the mutts, the killers.”

Then, the court briefly adjourned the proceedings. Mr. Liggeridis could not contain his anger even as he left the courtroom and finally the court adjourned the proceedings until tomorrow.

Malista, tomorrow is expected to be difficult for George Liggeridis’ parents as it is the feast of St. George.
