Another incident of vandalism in Thessaloniki comes to shake the sense of respect for the memory of people who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The bust in question is that of police officer Giorgos Liggeridis which was desecrated on Saturday night (25/4), with Thodoris Tsairidis publicly denouncing the act via a post on social media. As he stresses, the relevant services have already been mobilized for immediate restoration, while underlining that such actions will not be tolerated and that society must stand united against minorities who choose vandalism and violence.

Specifically, it said: “At the unveiling of the bust of the Hero Police Officer LYGERIDI GEORGE, I stated that 100 times and if it is vandalised 101 times we will be there to restore it.

Last night some sick minds went ahead with this sickening act.
We have already taken all necessary steps to have it restored.

These extreme and sick minorities must, with the contribution of everyone, disappear from the city of Thessaloniki.

And for this to happen, everyone must act with determination, far from phobic syndromes.

We owe it to our Heroes who fell in the line of duty and to the new generations.”
