Helicopter of the Air Force made an emergency landing in Castelli of Crete.

Military helicopter AB-205 of the 358 Search and Rescue Squadron from the 112th Fighter Wing, performing a maintenance flight southeast of Kastelli airport, performed an emergency landing due to mechanical failure at 08:00 today (Monday).00.

The crew of the helicopter is in good health and was evacuated to the Heraklion University General Hospital for precautionary reasons.

The causes of the incident are being investigated.

The General Staff of Aviation issued an official statement on the incident.

The statement reads as follows:

“On Monday, April 27, 2026, at 08:00, helicopter AB-205 of 358 Search and Rescue Squadron from 112 Fighter Wing, performing a maintenance flight southeast of Kastelli Airport, performed an emergency landing due to mechanical failure. The crew of the helicopter is in good health and was evacuated to the University General Hospital of Heraklion for precautionary reasons. The causes of the incident are being investigated.”
