“Greece records among the lowest increases among eurozone countries.”
This is noted by the Independent Authority for Market Control and Consumer Protection in a statement in which it informs citizens about the evolution of fuel prices, based on comparative data before and after the start of the recent crisis (27/02 vs. 26/04).
The comparison of prices for unleaded 95 and diesel shows that Greece has one of the lowest increases among the Eurozone countries. Iparticularly for diesel, Greece has the second lowest price increase, while for unleaded it is close to the Eurozone average.
These figures confirm that, despite intense international pressures, price developments in the domestic market remain subdued, as a result of both the operation of the market within the established gross profitability limits for petrol stations and distribution companies and targeted interventions, such as the 0.20euro/litre subsidy on diesel.
In terms of absolute fuel prices (Euro/lt) at service stations on 26/04/2026, Greece recorded the third lowest price for diesel among Eurozone countries, while for unleaded 95 it remains close to the average.
“Overall, the fuel market picture in Greece demonstrates a comparatively better performance than in several Eurozone countries, both in terms of increases and price levels,” the statement concludes.
