The launch of the first National Security Innovation Challenge “National Security Innovation Challenge”with a focus on National Security was recently announced by the National Intelligence Agency (NIS).
According to the press release, this is an open initiative that aims:
a) to highlight innovative solutions and exploit emerging technologies for the National Intelligence Agency and its partner agencies
b)to developa strong national ecosystem of cooperation in the field of national security, between the relevant agencies, the academic community, the public and private sectors; and
c)to strengthen the culture of innovation by supporting youth entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as research teams in the field of information.
With this action, the EIF addresses researchers, startups, students, professionals and technology development teams from all over Greece, inviting them to submit original ideas and applications that exploit modern technologies and respond to real challenges.
The National Security Innovation Challenge focuses on five key thematic areas:
- Next-Generation Intelligence Analysis methods (Next-Generation Intelligence Analysis)
- Cybersecurity and Physical Security in High Risk Environments (Cyber-Physical Security in Contested Environments)
- Information Security & Resilient Communications)
- Advanced Investigations & Signal Exploitation)
- Cutting Edge Technologies with Targeting Security Superiority (Disruptive Technologies for Security Superiority)
Note that participants will have the opportunity to win cash prizes and receive support from mentors and experts in the field, supporting the further development of their ideas.
The process includes phases of proposal submission, evaluation, expert-led development (mentorship) and final presentation, culminating in an award ceremony for the best ideas in June 2026.
It is open to interested parties to submit their proposals until 20 May 2026, via the challenge4security.gr, competing for their place and a prize in the National Security Innovation Challenge.
This initiative is part of a broader continuum of actions by the NSA, in the context of its extroversion strategy and the strengthening of its interface with society and innovation.
