As part of inspections, 387 vehicles were stopped, 544 licences and 185 registration permits were removed in Attica.
A total of 20 driver arrests, of which 10 involved driving under the influence of alcohol were made by police officers in extensive checks carried out throughout the Attica basin with thousands of alcohol tests and hundreds of violations.
In particular, the Attica Traffic Police in the context of targeted road safety actions, carried out extensive traffic checks from the early morning hours of Tuesday 23 April until the early morning hours of Monday 27 April, throughout the basin. During the operation, a total of 21,076 breathalyzer checks were conducted, resulting in 187 violations and the arrest of 10 drivers who were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol with a reading of more than 0.60 mg/l.
At the same time, authorities recorded a total of 3.391 additional offences, which included:
Exceeding the speed limit
Non-use of a protective helmet
Using a mobile phone while driving
Red light violation
Driving without a licence
These offences are part of the broader framework of intensifying checks to prevent road accidents.
Vehicle immobilisations and removal of licences
As part of the same checks, 387 vehicles were immobilised, of which 137 were towed away. In addition, 544 driving licenses and 185 traffic licenses were removed.
Low rate of offences
According to the Traffic Police, the positive results of the checks amounted to just 0.89% of the total, reflecting the targeted nature of the operations and the limited, in percentage terms, but existing offences.
