Donald Trump is reviewing with his advisers Tehran’s recommendation to open sea lanes and move nuclear conversations.
Donald Trump, focusing on the recent proposal put forward by Iran.
Tehran’s proposal calls for immediate reopening at Sea of Hormuz, provided, however, that this issue is decoupled from the country’s nuclear programme and the relevant discussion is postponed to the future.
Despite the seriousness of the issue, the US side is maintaining a wait-and-see attitude for the time being without any official reaction.
White House spokeswoman, Caroline Levitt, confirmed that the US president has been thoroughly briefed, but noted that Washington’s firm demands to end the crisis remain unchanged.
Remember Trump’s demand for simultaneous opening of the Straits and delivery of enriched uranium.
Levitt, asked about the climate of the talks, clarified:
“I wouldn’t say they are considering it. I would only say that there was a discussion this morning, which I don’t want to talk about. You’ll hear it directly from the president, I’m sure.”
