Local communities don’t seem to be convinced by PASOK, as the event in Komotini with top executives ended in a fiasco.

The PASP Rodopi organized a rally in Komotini with speakers including top PASOK executives such as Giorgos Papandreou, Pavlos Geroulanos, Giorgos Petalotis as well as local party executives. The title of the event was “Socialism or barbarism”, an anachronistic slogan that we hope will not be the central narrative of PASOK on the road to the polls.

Because such dilemmas, apart from being outdated by reality itself, are not liked by society. Of course, the reality for PASOK turns out to be much worse than what they may think in Charilaou Trikoupis.

Despite the top executives speaking, despite the mobilization of the local PASOK and PASOK and despite the communication promotion of the event in the local media, the citizens did not respond to the call. The hall failed to fill up while the empty seats were… more than the attendees.

In fact, most of those present were local officials while the turnout from the students’ side was disappointing to say the least. And it did not go unnoticed by either the local media or local executives that the party was unable to fill a hall.

Finally, there were also notable absences from the event, such as the mayor of Komotini, Yiannis Garanis, who is probably distancing himself from the party. Despite what they are spreading from Charilaou Trikoupis, PASOK is particularly concerned about the image of the party not only in the big urban centers, where the party is literally bleeding there, but also in many areas of the region, where there are no executives and candidates to inspire the local communities.
