The Gold Medal of the Parliament was awarded to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, shortly before he delivered his historic speech in the Plenary.
The Ecumenical Patriarch’s presence was at the invite of the President of the Parliament Nikitas Kaklamanis, while Patriarch Bartholomew’s last speech at the Plenary Session of the Greek Parliament was made 27 years ago in 1999.

In a difficult international situation due to the crisis in the Middle East and the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Ecumenical Patriarch’s speech takes on even greater significance.
