Applications for the “Starting Business” scheme aimed at young graduates start on Wednesday, according to the deputy minister National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis to Realfm 97.8.
“A very important programme is opening tomorrow, which is aimed at young graduates. It is young people who start their business and we even went retroactively from 1/1/25, that is, even if they have started – they can apply and get 13,000 euros if they start on their own, 21.000 if they start two kids together and set up a business and if they want to hire a person, even 15,000.
And the most important thing about this program, which we brought in through negotiation, is that it has a simplified payment. That is, the first six months they will get 4,300 euros, the second six months 4,300 euros, the third six months 4,300 euros, unless there are two of them and they have hired a person,” he said. Papathanasis.
He then referred to the Social Climate Fund with interventions of €5.3 billion, and the Modernisation Fund with resources of €1.6 billion. “The talk about the next day of the Recovery Fund and where the resources will be is these two funds. There is also the National Development Programme which is more than double. So we have resources because of the economy,” he said and referred to the actions that are planned.
On social housing, he said that “these houses will be returned to our fellow citizens who are economically vulnerable so that they can have very, very low rents”, while on student halls of residence, he said that “more children will have student halls of residence for better accommodation at universities”.
In relation to Disabled, he spoke of 100% subsidy on the means of transport they use. “That is the wheelchairs, the scooters. It’s very important for our fellow citizens with disabilities to have all these means free of charge.”
