A major police operation has been underway since the early hours of Wednesday in areas of Western Attica, with the aim of dismantling a criminal organisation allegedly defrauding citizens by pretending to be employees of DEDDHE.
The operation is being carried out by the Directorate for the Suppression of Organised Crime (D.A.O.E.), with authorities having so far made the arrest of seven people, who are allegedly actively involved in the ring.
According to the data so far, at least 117 cases of fraud have been solved, with the illegal financial benefit exceeding 3 million euros. The perpetrators allegedly approached their victims by posing as technicians or employees of the DEDDIE, managing under various pretexts to extract large sums of money.
The operation is in full swing, while further announcements are expected from the Hellenic Police about the full extent of the organization’s activities and its modus operandi.
