Joao Mario’s late goal gave AEK a 2-1 win over Panathinaikos to win the Super League championship in triumph.

AEK hosted Panathinaikos at the Allwyn Arena for the fourth round of the Super League playoffs and a late goal from Joao Mario gave them a 2-1 win over Panathinaikos to win the Greek league, courtesy of a 1-1 draw in Olympiacos vs PAOK.

While AEK and Panathinaikos hadn’t put the ball in the net in the first half, playing tough defense, it was all decided in the second half.

The game started with both teams looking for their footing and Panathinaikos threatened first in the 6th minute, when Pantelidis shot from the right onto Strakosia, who easily blocked.

A minute later the first threat came from AEK Athens, with Koita finding space outside the area, shooting and Lafon saving a corner.
