The Special Spatial Framework for tourism is being presented today at 12:00, at a special event, by the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni and Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou.

The central axis of the Special Spatial Framework for Tourism ,with a clear orientation towards sustainable development, the resilience of destinations and the safeguarding of the country’s natural and cultural heritage, is the transition to a tourism model with a lower environmental footprint, with rational management of natural resources and protection of biodiversity.

At the same time, the development of modern and sustainable infrastructure, the strengthening of organised forms of siting with clear environmental standards, as well as the acceleration of transparent and predictable licensing procedures are promoted.

The focus is, among other things, on the spatial balancing of tourism activity, with the aim of reducing pressure on saturated areas and the emergence of new, alternative and thematic destinations.

The new framework aspires to be a long-term planning tool, combining economic growth with environmental protection and social cohesion, laying a solid foundation for a resilient and sustainable tourism future.
