At 03:20 the Polemic Air Force aircraft landed in Elefsina with the Greek passenger of cruise ship MV Hondius, on which cases of hantavirus had appeared.
As Minister of Health Adonis Georgiades, he is unwell and asymptomatic without any signs of illness.
The minister stresses that “for precautionary reasons only, he has been transferred to the Attikon hospital in quarantine. There is absolutely no reason for concern.”
The Greek passenger first arrived by Dutch aircraft at the Eindhoven airport in the Netherlands and from there he boarded a special Air Force flight to the military airport of Elefsina. He was transferred by ambulance to the “Attikon” hospital, where he will remain in quarantine for 45 days.
In a second post on X, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis clarifies that passenger from the cruise ship MV Hondius who is being repatriated has no symptoms but is being quarantined for precautionary reasons.
“Our fellow citizen who is being repatriated from the Netherlands is being quarantined for precautionary reasons only. He has absolutely nothing. It is simply because he was in this environment that we are taking precautionary measures. He’s absolutely fine. There’s nothing to worry about. I shouldn’t have written “suffering” as I meant it could be in the incubation period. He is absolutely fine.”
