The first visit to Chania was made by the Ambassador of US in Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, after assuming her diplomatic duties in our country.
The American diplomat arrived at 16:00 on Tuesday afternoon (12/05) at Chania Airport in a private Dornier aircraft and then headed to the naval base of Souda, where she met with officials.
There she was briefed on the operation of the base, which is one of the most important points of defense cooperation between Greece and the United States, with a firmly central role in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
After completing her visit to Souda, Gilfoil departed for the hotel where she is expected to stay overnight.
According to the same source, today evening will be extended a banquet in her honor, which is expected to be attended by the Mayor of Chania Panagiotis Simandirakis, the Deputy Mayor of Chania Nikos Kalogeris and representatives of military and police authorities.
