The point that Nikos Androulakis owes an ethical explanation for his property rental case to Public made the spokeswoman of the New Democracy, Alexandra Sdoukou, speaking to Ert News and Athens 9,84.
Asked about this, the ND press spokeswoman replied, “He forgot a million in his background statement and attributed it to a mistake. Indeed, mistakes do happen, though he for others doesn’t acknowledge that they happen. As to the property case, without questioning the legality of the act, we raise the issue of the moral dimension. We say simply: About whether a party megalomaniac like Mr. Androulakis was at that time and at the same time that your party’s government is cutting salaries and pensions, you are taking rents from the state.”
Sdoucou argued that “to these questions Mr. Androulakis, a man who constantly insults, who speaks with extreme disparagement about justice, who uses terms like “gang” for the democratically elected government. He holds the fourth state office in the country, is the leader of the opposition, and by what he says he constantly trivializes it.”
What we promised in 2023 we have done
Referring to the 16th Ordinary Congress of the New Democracy which opens today, Ms: “New Democracy has historically been the great popular party, extending from the centre to the democratic right and which has over time expressed this broad political and social space. It has been doing so since 1974, since its foundation by Constantine Karamanlis, until today, adapting each time to the needs of the times, to the new questions posed by society and to the challenges facing the country.” He stressed that “at this conference we will take stock of what we have achieved, as it is important that what we promised in 2023 has been implemented. It may not always be enough, but we did them. But we will mainly refer to what we are aiming for, what we believe must be done in order not to jeopardise the progress made so far and to build a solid foundation for the Greece of 2030.Our eyes are on tomorrow and the needs and anxieties of citizens.”
Karystianou invests mainly in anger
Asked about the party of Maria Karystianou, the spokeswoman pointed out that “the audience she is addressing is completely different from the audience of New Democracy. If you look at the rhetoric, the positions, you will understand that it invests mainly in anger, which does not produce solutions and proposals. He uses pompous phrases and denunciations, but he has not said a word about what he will do. New Democracy has a different logic. It does not invest in anger, but in the power of normality and solutions.”
Tsipras is neither new nor fresh
Referring to Alexis Tsipras, Ms Sdoukou stressed that “Greek society is fully aware of the previous government. Mr Tsipras is neither new nor fresh, he is the same person who divided the citizens and brought measurable costs to their pockets and their everyday life.”
As for the possibility of Antonis Samaras forming a party, she noted that “Mr Samaras has not expressed the intention to form a party, so whatever I tell you now will have no real value. But I can certainly say that I hope that being a man who has been honoured by the party, but who himself has made a positive contribution to the governance of the country, he will weigh very carefully what he will do. I would even say in the balance of history, not the balance of temporary political relevance.”
