Changes to the circulation of vehicles will take effect from today, Saturday (16/5) in the Tempi, as work begins on the tunnels of the A.T.E. motorway, resulting in extensive traffic regulations being implemented.

According to announcement of the General Regional Police Directorate of Thessaly, and following a relevant decision of the Larissa Police Directorate, a complete stop of traffic is foreseen in the section from Evangelismos up to the southernmost end of the motorway at Platamonas, in both traffic streams.

Tunnels T1, T2 and T3 are closed

The interventions concern the T1 tunnels, T2 and T3 of Tempi, which will remain closed as part of the engineering works being carried out in the area.

For the convenience of drivers, traffic will be routed via the Pass National Road Evangelismos – Leptokarya, passing through the Valley of Tempi, both for vehicles heading towards Athens and towards Thessaloniki.

Which junctions are affected

At the same time, according to the announcement of the authorities, individual blockades will also come into effect at points of entry and exit of the motorway.

Specifically, the following intersections are affected:

  • Evangelism
  • Leptokarya
  • Rapsani
  • the toll station Platamonas

The restrictions will be applied in both directions of traffic.

The times and days of the regulations

As noted in the official announcement, the measures will apply from 18 to 22 May, daily from 07:30am to 8:30pm.

In fact, it is clarified that traffic regulations may be completed earlier if the work is completed before the scheduled time limit.

Police are urging drivers to exercise increased caution, strictly follow existing signage and comply with the instructions of traffic officers to ensure the smooth and safe flow of traffic.
