“The New Democracy is a party that took social politics seriously. We have been actively, not passively, pursuing social policy since 2019,” said Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michailidou, during the speech speech at the 16th Conference of the ND.
“It’s good the benefits. We need the subsidies, we need the economic subsidies, but we are not the party that sticks to that alone. We are the party that creatednew tools and created them thanks to all of you. And because we listened to you, we were the first to create the personal assistant for People with disabilities. We were the first to create the Nannies in the neighborhood and the Nanny Grandmothers, who are here to serve all families, all moms, all dads, all the seniors, all the households that have People with Disabilities in them and need an extra hand of their own help, of their own choosing,” he noted.
“We are the party that because they listened they created the disability card, the dignity card. So that our fellow citizens who are in a wheelchair can move around without constantly opening envelopes to prove their disability. It is a dignity card,” she added.
About the support measures for the family, the minister said: “We are the party that has supported the family with family daycare like no party before. So that families, through income, can have access, can have financing to preschools.”
“We are the party that made funding a reality. That half the children in foundations are now in families. And we are both congratulated and proud of that,” he noted to add: “We are the party that has managed 30,000 families to get their own home by giving the bank less money than they would give on a rent. We are now starting the social consideration and we thank the Armed Forces for giving the inactive camps to make 2,300 homes.”
Finally, speaking about the demographic, Ms. Michailidou said that it is at the top of the political agenda of prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, stressing that “he has created a ministry for the demographic, for the Greek family, because New Democracy knows that it must work hard for everyone and above all for the Greek family“.
