Facilitating the transportation of thousands of substitute teachers completing their service for the 2025-2026 school year, the state and the ferry companies are providing significant discounts on ferry and air insurance.

The initiative aims to support teachers who served away from their permanent place of residence, facilitating their return after the end of the teaching year.

As part of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Island Policy, as well as with ferry and airline companies, there are ediscounts of 30% to 50% on the travel tickets of substitutes.

Discounts on ferry tickets

A joint initiative of the Ministries of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and Maritime and Island Policy has announced discounts of up to 50% on ferry tickets for substitute teachers.

In particular, the discounts on ferry tickets are as follows:

1. Aegean Sea Lines

For tickets of substitute teachers of primary and secondary education, who will travel from/to Piraeus, for the period 19/6/2026 – 3/7/2026 (end of the teaching year), a 50% discount on their individual tickets, as well as 30% discount on their vehicles (cars and bicycles).

The discount will be provided by the local central port agencies of the company upon presentation of the decision of the Ministry of Education stating their employment and their Police Identity Card.

2.Attica Group

Attica Group

Attica Group offers a 50% discount on all its routes, as well as on intermediate routes, on all passenger seats, in their private vehicles and motorbikes, who are to travel on the routes:

A prerequisite for the provision of the above discount is the presentation of the Ministerial Decision stating their employment, as well as their Police Identity Card. The demonstration of the Ministerial Decision may be shown in addition to the original and in the form of a printout or photocopy.

In order to provide the discount, an Order Number is required, by selecting the discount “H.O. SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS 50%”.

3. Dodekanisos Seaways

Discount of 50% to substitute teachers (on their individual tickets only) for the teaching year 2025-2026 with the company’s ships. The partner travel agencies have already been informed about the provision of this discount for this period.

4. Fast Ferries

Discount of 30% on individual tickets and 20% on their vehicle tickets (IX and two-wheelers) during the following scheduled periods of the teaching year 2025-2026:

End of the teaching year: 19 June – 3 July 2026

The discount will be granted by the relevant central port offices of the company. Necessary documentation for the discount to be granted is the relevant decision of the Ministry of Education stating their employment, as well as their identity card.

5. Levante Ferries Group

Discount of 50% on passenger and vehicle tickets for substitute teachers who will travel exclusively during the following period:

End of the teaching year: 19 June – 3 July 2026.

The above discount applies to the issuance of tickets for themselves and their vehicles (cars, motorcycles) by presenting all the necessary documents so that they can receive from the agencies of the Levante Ferries Group Consortium the tickets at the discounted rate.

6.Minoan Lines

Discount of 50% on tickets for primary & secondary school deputies for domestic routes.

7. SEAJETS

The discount is set at 50% of the ticket price for both individual and vehicle (car & two-wheelers) tickets.

The discount is valid for routes for the following period: 19/06/2026 – 03/07/2026. The discount is applicable to travel from all SEAJETS vessels and will be offered exclusively through partner ticketing agencies. This discount is not available through on-line booking systems.

8.Skyros Shipping Co.

Discount of 50% on the ferry tickets of substitute teachers, which is valid for their individual ticket and for the ticket of their private car.

The discount is applicable throughout the year, as well as during the following peak periods and more specifically for the period: 19 June – 3 July 2026.

Other companies may be added to the above table in the coming days, when a new update will be issued.

Discounts on airline tickets – SKY Express

The company SKY Express, in response to the request of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and in order to facilitate the travel of substitute teachers of Primary and Secondary Education, provides a 30% discount on airline tickets per person.

The offer is valid for Primary and Secondary substitute teachers for the teaching year 2025-2026, and is applicable to seat reservations up to 15/06/2026, for flights from 05/09/2025 to 30/06/2026.

Recipients must complete the necessary information, as outlined below, on the form available on the company’s website.

The Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Sofia Zacharaki, expresses her sincere thanks to the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, as well as to the shipping companies and the Greek airline Sky Express, for their excellent cooperation and immediate response throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

Of particular importance was the provision, for the first time, of discounts covering the entire school year, as well as the timely planning and announcement of the relevant facilities already from the beginning of the school year for the main travel periods of substitute teachers.

This initiative contributed substantially to facilitating the movement of thousands of teachers serving in every corner of the country, confirming in practice the recognition of their contribution to public education.
