Nikos Bozionelos has unveiled his book “World Cup Confidential”, revealing stories of politics, money, power and geopolitics behind the World Cup.
Years of Research – The Behind the Scenes of Politics and Geopolitics
Skai’s “Atairistoi” show hosted Nikos Bozionelos, on the occasion of the release of his book “World Cup Confidential”, which explores the relationships between politics, money, power and football.
Christos Koutras welcomed the author, noting that the presence of both the book and its author was a “double pleasure”, describing the work as “amazing” and stressing that it highlights what goes on behind the World Cup curtain. At the same time, he stood by the compelling research that, he said, seems to have preceded it.
In response, Nikos Bozionelos explained that the book is the result of years of research and utilization of archive staff. He said he realized he had collected too many stories and decided to see if they could be organized into chapters.
In the end, of about 100 stories he collected, 70 were included in the book, leaving open the possibility of a future sequel. The work has 70 chapters and 640 pages.
The author stressed that it is more of a historical than a purely sports book, as it focuses on the way in which football is linked to politics, geopolitics and wider centres of power.
Kutras: “We have the pleasure of having a book and the author, which is a double pleasure. Nikos Bozionelos is with us. See World Cup Confidential, amazing book. Politics, money and power behind the curtain. I imagine it’s taken some shocking research.”…. pic.twitter.com/AVaonIWLEM
