On the occasion of the election of Konstantinos Kyranakis as the new Secretary of the ND meeting of the party’s Political Committee today.

Mr. Kyranakis was elected unanimously – by acclamation – as the new party secretary and in his first speech from this position he initially said that: “I feel the need to thank you from the bottom of my heart. For 12 years you believed in me, you trusted me, you gave me opportunities. A new generation that wants to step forward, in Parliament, in local government. You opened the door for us, you put us on the ballot papers and gave us a platform“.

We belong to a generation that experienced the entire crisis period in the most critical period of our lives, when dreams were being lost. Who were fleeing abroad and experiencing the stereotypes of the crisis. Who experienced the wave of a great unemployment and, when they found a job, saw wages drop, companies locked out. Half of us left abroad and others stayed to fight,” Constantine Kyranakis continued. “You all remember the state the country was in, what its image was abroad and how our partners treated us. Look how they see us now. The tightness in the stomach of that period belongs to the deep past.”.

We live in a Greece with a president in the Eurogroup, which brought back its children, with universities free from occupation – the greatest victory of the GDR and the UNNED -, a Greece that digitized the state, that protected its borders. A Greece that may be small on land, but big at sea. A global maritime power, that produces again, that rewards whoever invests, exports, produces in the Greek economy. With Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the helm of the great patriotic choices”, the new ND Secretary also said.

The coming battle is not just an election, but a battle of ideas”, he commented on the elections.

The battle has begun. Have a winner’s psychology and eliminate any trace of defeatism from within ourselves. Let it be in our tone of voice when we speak to the people we want to trust. In the Greece of 2030, the 30-year-olds will be the children born in 2000. Let us give them the opportunity to express their generation through our ballots, to give us their place in the Greece we are building. We will always hold the blue and white high. Let us leave with a marching orders sheet and the mission to sweat the jersey and to spread our optimism to every member, every mother, father, worker, everywhere in Greece. To paint the map blue again”, said Constantine Kyranakis.
