Officers from the Pineios Police Department, using footage from security cameras and evidence gathered during the investigation, managed to identify the woman alleged to be responsible for the incident, who is currently being sought. According to initial reports, the driver, who was taken to the police station, stated that she did not see the dog and assumed it had run off.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening, shortly after 9:00 p.m. The vehicle shown in the video fatally injured Sissy, the elderly dog that neighborhood residents had been caring for for many years.
