The association of Athens with lawlessness and the decline of Athens is the image one must keep in mind regarding what it would mean for the country… “progressive” governance.

Haris Doukas, who embodies the idea of cooperation between PASOK with the ELAS of Alexis Tsiprashighlighting the model of cooperation with SYRIZA and leftists in the municipality as a success–, demonstrated through the resolution in favor of the squats in the refugee camps on Alexandras Avenue how the Left understands the rule of law.

In his mind, as well as in that of his like-minded colleagues, consensus with marginalized groups and the adoption of demands made by groups acting outside the law safeguard social cohesion!

It goes without saying that the Mayor of Athens has no understanding of his institutional role because with such resolutions and his stance, he is sending a message to society that lawlessness and the extreme behavior of a minority ultimately become the norm by undermining institutional legitimacy.

And this is reflected and confirmed by the fact that anarchist collectives and the “Prosfigika Squat Community” welcomed the resolution passed by the majority of the Athens City Council.

Obviously, as the “nominal” mayor of Athens, it is natural for him to be unaware of his institutional drift. But what about PASOK?
