Dmitris Markopoulos accused PASOK and Syriza of trying to set up “people’s courts” after the ruling on the telephone tapping.
Eutopia attack on the parties of opposition, Dimitris Markopoulos, regarding the reactions to the archiving of the case of bugging.
Markopoulos exceeded the decision of the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, arguing that the criticism made violates the boundaries between politics and judicial power.
The MP turned with particular vehemence against PASOK and Syriza, accusing them of attempting to challenge the institutions and impose a form of extrajudicial punishment. According to him, opposition reports of a “cover-up” undermine normality and the stability of the country.
During his statement, Dimitris Markopoulos said: “Will we set up PASOK courts and SYRIZ courts?. Excuse us, we won’t! We will not set up people’s courts!“.
Mr. Markopoulos connected the attitude of the parties with previous political cases, citing:
- The experience of the “Novartis case” and the phenomena of interconnection.
- The dangers of sowing doubts against the judiciary.
- The need not to “backslide” in times of political experiments.
“This is dangerous. We have suffered from “sorcerer’s apprentices” or from those who are currently presented as “saviors”we have experienced political experiments under our own skin. Don’t touch the normalcy of our country again. We must not go backwards,” he concluded his remarks, stressing that the judicial crisis must be respected by the entire political world.
