Artemis Tzovanis, Artemis Tzovanis, the Municipality of Peania, has been honored as athlete of the Peania Ariston Ariston Athletic Club, the Bronze World Junior Men’s Fencing Champion 2026.
During the celebrations for the city’s patron saint, St. Athanasius, Isidoros Madis announced that the municipality is planning a big event to honour the institutions as a whole and especially the athletes who have distinguished themselves.
The mayor of Peania presented the world champion with a French Army Axe and together with Minister of Education Sofia Zacharaki an honorary diploma for his historic success.
The Greek champion, number 10 in the FIE world ranking, made an impressive performance throughout the event in Rio de Janeiro, achieving important victories against top athletes and confirming his high level of competition.
The success of Artemis Tzovanis becomes even more important, as it is the first medal for Greece in Young Men’s Duel at a World Championship.
