Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomeos has returned to the Phanar, after completing his official visit to Greece in recent days.

He departed from Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” International Airport, where he was greeted by the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Giannis Plakiotakis, and the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis.

The Patriarch’s visit was highly symbolic, while special reference was made to his speech before the National Delegation, which stood out for its messages of unity, faith and reconciliation.

After Panagiotatos’ departure, Yiannis Plakiotakis made the following statement: “This past week, the Greek Parliament was honored and brightened by the wise and reverent presence of His Holiness Patriarch of Constantinople, Mr.Mr Bartholomew I.

We had the distinguished honor of receiving the Patriarch and fate bestowed upon us the true blessing of being present for his historic address before the National Delegation that represented the greatness and the beauty of soul of our spiritual leader, an address that touched the most intimate aspects of our national and religious existence and conscience.

Today’s return of His Holiness to his Patriarchal See, leaves us with feelings and messages of universal love, optimism, peace, hope and reconciliation. We wish him to continue his God-given work and may God bless us to welcome him again to our land.”
