The Minister Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias participated, today, in the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) of the European Union, in a meeting of defence ministers of its member states.
Defence ministers endorsed the total approach to strengthening the European Defence AgencyDefence Agency and approved its first phase of implementation. They were also briefed on the process of updating the Threat Analysis.
They also discussed issues related to the common European defence, as well as the situation in the Middle East
The Greek Minister underlined the need to strengthen the European defence industry, with emphasis on innovation and the implementation of the Defence Readiness Agenda.
He also raised with his counterparts, as well as with the Ukrainian Defence Minister, who participated via teleconference in the FAC – Defence, the issue of the lifting of a Ukrainian maritime drone in Greece and the great danger this caused to the safety of navigation.
In a post on social network X, Dendias said:
“I was informed about the process of updating the “Threat Analysis”. I stressed the need to strengthen the European defence industry, with a focus on innovation and the implementation of the Defence Preparedness Agenda.
I also raised with my counterparts, as well as with the Ukrainian Defence Minister who participated via teleconference in the FAC – Defence, the issue of the maritime drone recovery in Greece – which we are now certain is Ukrainian – and the great danger it caused to the safety of navigation,” Mr. Dendias added.
