Jorgos Gerapetritis is travelling to Sofia today, where he will attend the Summit and the Ministerial Meeting of the South East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP).
B>Bulgaria holds this year’s chairmanship of the Inter-Balkan Cooperation (Greece held it in 2022) and the focus will be on strengthening regional connectivity, security, economic cooperation, closer coordination on modern geopolitical challenges such as hybrid threats and the European perspective of the WesternBalkans.
With a view to the latter which will be the focus of the Greek Presidency of the EU Council (second half of 2027), Mr. Gerapetritis will tour the Western Balkans in the coming days.
On 12 June he will visit Serbia, while on 19 June he will be in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as in Montenegro. According to some reports, the foreign minister may also visitSkopje – Tirana, with the dates not yet finalized.
For the Albanian capital in particular, there is a question about the appropriateness of the visit, especially in the aftermath of the Svernitsa incidents and the beating of an expatriate, but also after Endy Rama’s funny claims that Greece is “jealous” of him.
